Surrender yourself
to the earth
fuse
with the landscape
let wild grasses
slip
through the tresses of your hair
where once your eyes dazzled
the trees will cast their shade
over what is now sparkling pools of blue
The ocean shall mould
the contours of your skull
hardening
distorting
with the duress
of heavy handed waves
Release your last words
so that they may climb
the rocky outcrop of your chin
to become sounds of the world
that travel endlessly on the wind
Allow the waters to cradle
the cocoon
that made you whole
you will become
not just the dust
but the rock
that stands against the sea
and the tomb
that holds your soul.

dang…quite the death poem, giving way to the elements…the cliff of you chin…nice…the end carries a bit of a sting..
Beautiful poem…sad but touching!
Headland are gorgeous…you capture their essence. Can imagine myself standing there..that’s the sign of a well written piece. Thanks for visiting my blog. Vb
That’s beautiful – from the surrender to becoming the tomb. Thank you.
Intoxicating death imagery…
Yes, we are all shaped by the Universe and we all return to dust, but the spirit soars eternal! The seaside holds great affection for me, so I particularly enjoyed this beautiful and poignant poem. Lovely.
Ahhh, the tomb that holds your soul, how true of th ocean. The beginning and ending of all of us. I also really liked “the rocky outcrop of your chin.”
