Dead Heart

She howled

from the dead heart

where blood stained the land

and turned to dust

traces of blue

circled in the hollows

where the sky is reflected

in waters left after the rain

and tears

that fled her soul

to be dried by the harsh sun

releasing cracks

in the terrain of her life

scars imprinted on the land

and memory

of those flying above

alienated

from her strength

her beauty

her power to survive

treacheries inflicted

So that’s probably why it reminds you of his photography. I’d never heard of David Maisel, thankyou for mentioning him, it’s great to find out about other artists.
