One Does Well to Fear Flowers

Flowers have always been sinister

the avatar of a dream

some masterwork of treachery

beautiful, too perfect

unnatural

perversely appealing

with that rare electric vivaciousness

some pleasure-snatcher plucks

before

it withers away

For dverse prompt erasure poetry  I’ve used a section from Games and Ends by Norman Mailer…from Advertisements for Myself

it withers away…wow, nice spin on the closure…flowers as sinister as well….very interesting…flowers can be deadly i am sure…ha…

  2. Ha, this made me smile. I have not thought of flowers as sinister, but I truly CAN see what you mean. There has to be an evil side to this perfection. (Smiles) Well penned.

  3. One of the best I’ve read. This is awesome. From your first line (which grabbed me immediately) to the final word, it was absolutely perfect. I love this, and the thoughts behind it. They are sinister demons indeed.
