Azalea

while Iā€™m reading Kerouac
the azalea feels the rain
that gently sweeps
summer away
for one day at least

I curl up on my bed
reading poetry
musically jazzed up by tap dancing raindrops
a performing troupe upon my roof

the blushing azalea bows
bathed in gentle applause
words drift in and out of rhythms
in dying patters
that slowly
drop

until the last clap heard
before the posturing sun
divides rain clouds
I turn the page

  1. tap dancing rain drops…nice…love the sound of rain…reading dharma bums right now….the bowing azalea, i like….to the applause, ha…little bit of magic happening while you are reading there…

  2. Ah, weather is always changeable and also is responsible for a lot of change. I haven’t read Kerouac in quite a while. Maybe time to pick up his writings again.

  3. Absolutely beautiful, especially:

    the blushing azalea bows
    bathed in gentle applause
words drift in and out of rhythms
    in dying patters
    that slowly
    drop

    Happy New Year!

  4. very cool…what a great capture of the scene, the atmosphere…the rain…the blushing azalea bows bathed in gentle applause…and then the turning of page…love it
