Hothouse

Lots of things overheat

in the moment…

over days, weeks, months, even years.

The mechanic is bringing the car home.

The thermostat

and the artist

are cooling down

after splattering her last piece

with some final marks of defiance.

Imitating the crisscrossing distances

 she’ll put between them

when the mechanic

gives back her getaway car.

  1. Quite a complete and detailed narrative, with a lot of feeling, almost impossible to believe it’s only 55 words. I like the almost Bonnie-and-Clyde, or maybe Bonnie Minus Clyde, ending.

  2. Welcome to the 55 Funfest…
Loved your Hot and HOTTER story/poem
I hope you found this to be challenging and FUN
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
