Sailing Lessons

It’s in the noticing

Of a cloud witch on a big sky

Throwing spells in tufts

Of fluff

One, two, three

You saw me…me you

Felt the move across waves

And thought for the briefest moment

There was a hull lift

Wind with a rain splice

Capturing us all in the grace

Of that moment

I waited months

To believe there was something

In that lift

Only to find the lift

Was only dependent on who did the lifting

Your life is too heavy

For me to carry

Sailing is light

Carried by winds over seas

It is life breathing and moving forward

It is a smile caught in a sail

Of a lesson now learned

I will be a sailor

Who sails freedom and spirit

Happiness found within my own heart

Beating without apology
